An update from the Tubman Heating CEO

As we all know the recent record flooding in the upper North Island has stretched the resources of all infrastructure businesses and service businesses to breaking point.

Our teams across the North Island have been extremely busy meeting the needs of our customers who have been directly affected by the flooding. Many plant rooms are below ground and therefore susceptible to flooding. A few clients have requested urgent replacements of the flood-damaged burners within their plant rooms. Our warehouses are well stocked to facilitate most of these replacements. Where custom burners are required from offshore, we have provided alternative options until the products can be flown in. If you require assistance please contact your local branch; Auckland, Hamilton or Wellington.

We continue to look at new technology that will move our industry away from reliance on fossil fuels to replacements, including hydrogen, wood pellet, bio and electrical energy sources. As an industry leader we are heavily involved in this decarbonisation opportunity from both a social perspective but also from a business perspective as the number of boilers that will need to be replaced and serviced over the coming years is expected to increase.

Since my appointment in September 2021, I have had a crash course in all things heating. One of the areas of significant growth relates to carbon-neutral heating. The landscape of fossil fuel burners is changing with the government pushing towards the country being carbon neutral by 2050. As part of this journey, we are working with our clients to investigate ways to reduce their carbon footprint and utilise government-funded opportunities such as the GIDI fund.

We have completed numerous pellet conversions including the Auckland Council Winter Garden and several schools utilising the ÖkoFEN pellet system.

During my first 16 months, I have visited many sites and am proud of the high level of both servicing and project delivery. Our team continue to utilise our cloud-based work management system capturing critical asset information and ensuring they stay safe by completion of JSA documentation.

We have moved entirely away from paper-based with everything from timesheets, service reports and incident reporting all online and backed up by the cloud.

Our business continues to grow and expand geographically and through new product lines. I am excited to lead the Tubman Heating family on this journey.
